“The Biz of Building and Bettering your Team…”

Once again, we return to the lovely facilities at the Dolce Seaview Resort in Galloway Township, NJ.  On Wednesday evening we will begin building teams during our rousing game of “Facilities Jeopardy.”  Not only will this be a fun team activity but you will gain valuable (yet obscure) facilities knowledge.

On Thursday we will focus on team building and presentation skills.  We have amassed a plethora of presenters that promise to help you develop your skills to build a better team.

Our keynote speaker Jody Urquhart, Syndicated Columnist and Author of the book “All Work & No SAY,” will impart a wealth of team building methodologies and pave the way for our interactive team building exercise to be conducted by APPA’s own Master Trainers Carol Trexler and Michelle Estep-Frederick.

Friday’s session on presentation skills will be conducted by Graceworks. Don’t miss this opportunity to hone your personal presentation skills and interact with your peers from educational institutions across the state of NJ.

Due to the current status of the economy, we have lowered the registration fee for Educational Institution registration and we have secured a low room rate should you choose to stay over night.  As always food and beverages will be included in your registration.

NJAPPA President

Friday Program

The Human Connection: Bring Your Presentations to Life!

Do you want your presentations to stand out in the crowd? Then bring them to life!  If you want freedom to be yourself and communicate your message with vitality and self confidence, this fun, hands–on workshop is for you. Through teaching, discussion, participation in theater exercises and individual coaching opportunities, you will learn to:

-- Connect with your audience
-- Identify and drop nervous habits
-- Prepare and practice your material
-- Make technical material come to life
-- Use graphics and props wisely

In most presentation and communication training, technical issues tend to make up the bulk of the training: how to organize materials, deal with graphics, control hand gestures and voice inflections. We don't ignore technique - it's important. But it's a human connection with your audience that will inspire them to want to work with you.

At Graceworks, we focus first on you because you are the presentation. You are the one who has to make the connection - when it's all over, something should have happened between you and the audience. Our emphasis is on the process and skills that will bring true warmth and life to your presentation.

Bios for the speakers:

Carol - GraceworksCarol Doscher, President & CEO (Chief Encouragement Officer), has connected with audiences since she performed in Broadway’s "Sweeney Todd." And it’s not so far from the boards of Broadway to the boardrooms of America. Since founding Graceworks Inc. in 1995, she has trained hundreds of AEC professionals worldwide to make that vital "human connection" in sales presentations, client meetings and lectures. Having been featured in The New York Times and on Bloomberg television, Carol also has published numerous articles on presentation skills. Prior to her current work, she marketed design and construction services for many years.

Geoff - GraceworksGeoff Webb, Vice President & CFO (Chief Freedom Officer), is a West Point grad, professional actor, attack helicopter pilot and world traveler – a rare combination. He leverages his theater skills and leadership experience to effectively connect with people and engender trust. Working with Geoff, Graceworks clients learn to become strong leaders, communicators, and presenters.

Graceworks provides presentation, leadership and communication training to clients globally. Our sessions are designed to free you to be yourself and connect comfortably and confidently with others - you’ll get an interactive, one-of-a-kind experience, not just training. Our promise to you? We’ll laugh, lives will be changed, and you’ll walk away knowing how to make The Human Connection.

Graceworks LogoHere's the bottom line: For your business to succeed, something has to happen between you and your clients on a human level. And for your people to do their best work, they must feel respected and empowered on a personal level. Clients and employees alike must feel that they can trust and communicate with you, that you will listen and respond to their needs.

You and your staff can make this connection each time you give a presentation, lead a project, network or even pick up the phone. But it only comes with understanding and practice.

Seaview Golf Information

GolfSince 1914 golf has been the heart and soul of Dolce Seaview —and it always will be. For it is almost a century ago when Philadelphia utilities magnate Clarence Geist couldn’t get a tee-time at his home club and decided to build a world-class course of his own on some newly bought South Jersey property.
The now-famous Bay Course opened shortly thereafter, created by Donald Ross, one of the all-time preeminent golf course architects. Rich in tradition and recently restored to Ross’ original plan, this links-style marvel has withstood the test of time, continuing to challenge both amateur and professional golfers alike.
The equally impressive Pines Course opened in 1929, a more American “Parkland-style” course measuring almost 6,800 yards from the tips. The brainchild of the renowned design team of Toomey & Flynn, the Pines was carved from the woodlands surrounding the resort and features tight fairways with well-protected landing areas for a truly different challenge.

Golf Outing Fees:
Greens/Cart/Fees: $95.00 (includes Box Lunch)
Club Rental - Callaway $60.00
