Director of Facilities
(Director II)
Located in the New York City metropolitan area, New Jersey City University (NJCU) is recognized for its urban mission as well as its model undergraduate curriculum that combines cooperative education with a firm foundation in liberal arts. A culturally diverse institution serving 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students, NJCU offers more than thirty undergraduate degree programs, as well as graduate and teacher certification programs. We are currently accepting applications for the positions listed below. All positions are contingent upon receipt of State funding.
New Jersey City University invites applications for the position of Director of Facilities. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Facilities and Construction Management, the Director is responsible for directing the operation, maintenance and repair of NJCU facilities and grounds. The Director will manage the day-to-day functions of the central utility plant, repair and maintenance, housekeeping, grounds, and fleet departments. The Director will ensure the campus facilities provide a safe, healthy, and comfortable environment for students, faculty, and staff of the University. The Director must be available and willing to work non-standard work hours to address emergencies or facilitate the successful outcome of projects and repairs to maintain campus operations including weekends and evenings
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or related field
- Minimum of four years experience in facilities management
- Demonstrated managerial and organizational skills
- In depth knowledge of all aspects of facilities management including, but not limited to, electrical and mechanical systems, grounds and housekeeping
- Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and NJDEP regulations as they relate to the areas of responsibility
- Demonstrated ability to create and manage a successful preventive maintenance program
- Working knowledge of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of MS Office in a Windows environment
Preferred
- Experience in Higher Education
- Experience using the ARCHIBUS CMMS
- Knowledge and experience in initial, retro, and continuous monitoring-based commissioning of building energy management and control systems
- Knowledge of Andover building energy management and control systems or comparable system, including pneumatics and direct digital controls
- Skills in the area of budgeting, financial and personnel administration in a union environment
- Knowledge and understanding of energy markets and experience in the development of procurement strategies to reduce cost of these commodities
