Professional Development is Easy and Affordable - Here's How... PDF Print E-mail

Did you know that ERAPPA maintains an inventory of professional development materials?  Did you also know that many of these programs come with facilitator's guides, in a wide range of facilities management and leadership topics?

In these difficult economic times, professional development is usually the first thing cut from the budget.  ERAPPA has a resource for its membership to ease those budget woes and - more importantly - to keep staff up to speed and motivated.  The ERAPPA Resource Library holds over 400 titles covering topics from custodial services to leadership development, and all the other facilities-related issues in between.dollardomino
The most recent additions to the library come directly from the APPA Bookstore.  The library now contains the hottest topics from APPA including: Green Campus, The Business Case for Renewable Energy, The Building Commissioning Handbook, and The Facilities Management: A Manual for Plant Administration, the four series "Body of Knowledge."  The most popular titles in the library are FISH!, FISH! Sticks, and a new series of custodial service programs.  To search all the current titles in the library, please visit the ERAPPA website.

ERAPPA makes it easy and inexpensive for you to deliver your own professional development.  You pay only the return postage!  If you would like to borrow a title from the library simply contact Michelle Frederick, ERAPPA Vice President of Professional Development, to make your request. ERAPPA covers the cost of getting the materials to you. You simply provide the postage necessary to return it to the library.  ERAPPA members can borrow up to three titles at one time for up to four weeks.

Scholarships for Professional Development PDF Print E-mail

The ERAPPA scholarship program was established to support the education of facilities professionals through a variety of development, promotional and scheduling activities. The ERAPPA Membership Committee continues to look at ways to improve the scholarship application and award process, including communications between the applicants, the ERAPPA Board, and APPA.  This includes follow up emails to applicants when the application forms are received, as well as clarifying the process with the applicants.PiggyBank

Applications are reviewed and graded by the Awards and Scholarship Committee prior to the annual meeting which is held in the fall each year.  The grading is based on a single set of criteria for all scholarship types which can be viewed on line at the ERAPPA website.  Scholarships are awarded to cover registration fees at APPA's Institute for Facilities Management, APPA's Leadership Academy, APPA's Supervisor's Toolkit, certification preparatory courses  and possibly other APPA or ERAPPA offerings and up to $1,000 in travel expenses.

For those who were not successful this year, your application was forwarded to your Chapter's President to be considered for any chapter scholarship programs that may be offered.  Check your local chapter website for scholarship information.

The on-line application process is NOW open and closes September 1, 2012. Go to www.erappa.org for more details. We  hope you consider applying for a scholarship in 2013 as you either start or continue your educational endeavor with APPA.
