Scholarship Policy

Scholarships will be awarded only to individuals who are presently employed in the field of Facilities Management at an  ERAPPA member institution and who has not received an ERAPPA Scholarship in the past year.  Also, ERAPPA members currently serving on the Awards and Scholarship Committee or the ERAPPA Board are not eligible.  Typically there is only one successful applicant per institution per year and ideally the scholarships will be awarded evenly across the region.

Application forms (applicants and supervisors) must be completed, endorsed and received by the ERAPPA Vice President for Membership no later than September 1st.   Any applications received after September 1st will be returned to the applicant for re-submission for the next year.
Only applications received directly from the applicant will be considered.

Application forms are to be completed on-line only and are available at http://www.erappa.org/content/blogcategory/90/349/ .  Once a completed application is received, the VP Membership will send a confirmation email to the applicant indicating the application has been received and outlining the award process.

Applications are reviewed and graded by the Awards and Scholarship Committee  prior to the annual meeting which is held in the Fall each year.  The grading will be based on a single set of criteria for all scholarship types.  The selection committee recommendations will be forwarded to the ERAPPA President for Board approval during the ERAPPA Annual Meeting. The President will announce the awards at the Business Meeting segment of the ERAPPA Annual Meeting.

The Secretary sends notification to each recipient and non-recipient by mail approximately one month after the ERAPPA Annual Meeting.  The recipient's letter will include instructions about how to use the scholarship, and will be copied to the Treasurer and to the appropriate APPA representative.  The recipient will be given a deadline to respond and will be asked for confirmation that they will use the scholarship, and what program they plan to attend.  If the scholarship is rejected or delayed by the recipient, the VP Membership will work with the recipient to reschedule, and with the Treasurer to adjust the budget.

The Secretary also sends an e-mail to the supervisor of each recipient.

The VP Membership will return all non-selected applications back to each Chapter President for possible chapter scholarship consideration.

Scholarships must be utilized in the calendar year for which they are awarded or they may be forfeited.
