The Eastern Region is pleased to announce two extremely qualified, hardworking and dedicated individuals from the Eastern Region are on the ballot for positions on the APPA Board. On Saturday, February 6th, the APPA Board approved the slate of candidates which include Glenn Smith (Bryn Mawr College/DVAPPA) and Darryl Boyce (Carleton University/OAPPA) have been nominated for the APPA Board. More information will come in the weeks/months ahead. Glenn Smith ![]() Glenn Smith is running for the position of Vice President of Professional Development. Glenn is the Director of Facilities at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania and has held numerous positions within ERAPPA that include President-Elect, President (3 years), and Past President of his Chapter (DVAPPA) as well as the Eastern Region, served as a as Co-Chairman of the ERAPPA 2003 Host Committee (Philadelphia), has been both an Jr. and Sr. APPA Representative for the region, Served on APPA’s EFP Task Force and is Currently serving as APPA’s Dean of the Leadership Academy (Track 1). “I’m thrilled to be able to represent the region and run for the Vice President of Professional Development,” said Smith. “During my 2 decades in higher education I have always been drawn to the educational side of what APPA has done, so I think I would be good fit in the organization.” Glenn received Bachelor and Master of Engineering Degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1972 and 1973 and a Master of Science Degree in National Security Strategy from the National War College of the National Defense University in 1995. Darryl Boyce ![]() Darryl running for the Vice President of Information and Research. Darryl is the Assistant Vice President for Facilities Management and Planning at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario. Darryl has been engaged and involved in APPA and ERAPPA for numerous years. Presently he is APPA’s Body of Knowledge Content Coordinator, for Energy, Utilities, and Environmental Stewardship. Additionally he has served on numerous committees, including co-chair of the very successful Ottawa Annual Meeting in 2007. Darryl has presented at APPA conferences and webinars and brings a vast and far reaching range of technical expertise to the organization. “I have always wanted to run for the International Association,” said Boyce. “APPA is a fantastic organization and if elected, I look forward to serving that long tradition of excellent leaders.” Darryl received a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta. There is a lot more to tell and celebrate about these two well qualified Eastern Region candidates and that will come over the next few months. Details will follow on the complete slate of candidates, as well as other election news (ballots) but certainly we have two strong ones in the Eastern Region. |
