Job Description:

Herkimer County Community College is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Director of Facilities Operations.  This is a full-time, 12-month position with a salary range of $60,000 to $90,000.

The Director of Facilities Operations reports to the Senior Vice President for Administration and Finance and directs the College’s facility maintenance, repair, physical plant safety, custodial operations, and capital projects.  Responsibilities also include the MEP (Mechanical Electrical Plumbing) Systems, water and sewer infrastructure, grounds, athletic fields, snow removal, fleet vehicles and student housing.
The Director of Facilities is responsible for the departmental budget and the supervising, training and developing of full-time staff that include custodial workers and skilled trade persons.



Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Engineering or related area of study or Construction Administration. Associate’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Structural) with 10 years’ experience in a Skilled Trade (HVAC, Electrical, Carpentry, Plumbing) and facilities operations is mandatory.  Five years’ of direct supervisory experience, broad knowledge of intricate details of operation of a large building complex and working background in MEP, preferred.   Combination of the above education and experience will be considered.
